Day 2: Pune

Dinner last night was complimentary. Getting my full does of northern indian food although i can't imagine eating the same stuff for the next 2 weeks!
Breakfast was alright - the service is excellent! The waiters are eagerly waiting to attend to any request. At the buffet, you don't even need to get up. Just tell them what you want, and they'll serve you!
Went out to a "mall". Me being a mall-rat was hugely disapointed! Malls here are just 2 levels of shops. And are made out of a lot of non-local shops. Was meaning to pick up some nice kurta's but didn't see any. Children even made it into the store and tried to stalk Jen for some money. Didn't come up to me though - maybe i didnt look foreign?Hahahaha....
Managed to stop by the local grocery shop Dorabjee's. It's packed to the brim but i managed to get some Pringles and a packet of instant masala tea...
Came back to the hotel coz the hustle and bustle of the street was just too much for us to handle.
Let's see if we do something fun for dinner...

Visit India 2010: Journey to Pune

Woke up at 6am today. Took a cab with Jen to KLIA for our flight at 9:35am.
Indian Airlines ain't nice at all! It took us 3+hours to reach Chennai airport.
Chennai airport ain't nice at all! Ate some lunch and waited for many hours to board our connecting flight to Pune. We took the Kingfisher airlines - 5 star was good! Flight to Pune was 1.5 hours. Pune airport is much cleaner and spacey compared to Chennai. The hotel staff was already there with our transport to the hotel. Our drive back to the hotel was an experience. There are practically no traffic regulations here except one: HONK! honk at EVERYTHING on the road. The hotel was pretty near the airport. It's right next to the main road and next to a mall. My room is huge! and its very comfortable. I can still hear the honking though :)

A funeral...

Today i attended the funeral of a good friend's mom.
I have a huge phobia when it comes to funerals.
The only funeral i've ever had to attend until today was my uncle's. I was shaking all over my body and overwhelmed by the whole thing. I was crying my eyes out. Just the thought of peeking inside the coffin freaked me out. I had many sleepless nights after that.....

That happened 8 years ago. Today, it came to the point at mass, where everyone walks past the coffin to pay their last respects. I hesitated. My good girl friend was standing behind me, and she said "don't freak out". That calmed me down a little knowing she's behind me.

I just looked up at the altar and told myself, there's nothing to be afraid of. I looked into the coffin, said goodbye, and moved on to wish my dear friend my condolences. I was alright...i came through. I guess i've grown since my uncle's funeral, and i have come to terms that sooner or later, i will just have to deal with these kinds of things :)

One thing that i have always believed in, and it was the same message that the priest gave during his homily. Make ammends TODAY, don't wait for tomorrow, or next week. Life is short, and you should not regret the last thing you ever said or felt about a person dear to you.

While doing ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that requires my name, these words haunt me....."FULL NAME PLEASE"

What the!!!!Hellloooooooooooooo....you think i don't know what "full name" means?

You think i don't know MY OWN FULL NAME!!!!!

This morning, i called up the hospital to make an appointment for one of those Exec Health Screenings (my oh-so-generous company has given us a 1k claimable amount to go for it).

Admin Lady: Ms or Madam?

Moi: Ms

Admin Lady: Full name

Moi: insert full name here

Admin Lady: FULL NAME pls

Moi: THAT IS MY FULL NAME!!!!!

And after that, Admin Lady was very nice to me....hmph!

Make me so geram!

Oh well...a lot of times i've been asked: How come no chinese name?

Well...with or without one...i am me! :)

Finally something to write about....

This is probably the longest time that i haven't written :)
Since my last post, i have not made any attempts on carbonara sauce but i've become an expert at tomato sauce!
And since my last post, i have travelled to another continent and back.....
Here are some of the highlights of my trip.

Dubai:
Dubai airport has got to be one of the biggest i have ever seen. It is one big gigantic mall!

Vienna:
Its summer but i had my jacket with me everywhere. When the wind blows, it can get chilly.
Vienna has the best coffee ever! Iced coffee rocks even more!!!
The food is just awesome. Bread and meat. Lots and lots of meat.
No one ever eats fastfood me thinks - read on to see why...
Our ramly burger stalls are replaced by wurstelstands. They sell all sorts of sausages and meats that you grab to eat on the go. DELICIOUS!

Places i visited: Schonbrunn Palace, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Zentralfriedhof, St Stephan’s Cathedral, Hofburg Palace, Rathaus, the Danube, Vienna University, Naschmarket

Puchberg:
Schnitzel is good. Of course i got home cooked schnitzel and goulash thanks so very much to the Sticklers. I cant even begin to describe how tasty it all is. This quiet town has the most beautiful surroundings of hills and mountains and clear blue skies.

Zell-Am-See:
We took a cablecar right up to 3000 over meters to reach the peak of the mountain and play in snow! It was snow paradise!

Salzburg:
One of my favourite places. Visited the mirabell gardens which was the closest to any "sound of music"-ness that i could get :) The brewery was also where i had one of the bestest tasting beer!

Places i visited: Hohensalzburg fortress, Salzburger Dom Cathedral, Getreidegasse & Mozarts Geburtshaus, Mirabell Gardens, Salzach River

Prague:
Prague oh prague....maybe i didnt visit at the right season? Or that i missed the Charles Bridge at night? I didnt really "feel" prague as it was meant to. Might consider going back - nothing to loose, the beer is cheap and plenty!

Places i visited: Old town square, Astronomical clock, Church of Lady Before Tyn, The Powder Tower, Church of Our Lady Victorious, Wenceslas Square, Charles Bridge, Prague Castle

Bratislava:
A quiet and beautiful little place which you can visit in a few hours. Lovely food as well. A visit to the castle would've been great but it was under reconstruction.

Places i visited: St.Martin's Cathedral, Michaels gate, Old town hall, Maximilian Fountain, Curious statues of bratislava.

All in all, BEER is cheap and good, just how we like it.
Mr.T had to try his KFC in prague - 2 pieces of chicken, guess how much? RM18.
You need ketchup? Throw in another few Czech cents.
Tsk tsk....why pay so much for american fastfood when you have lovely sausage stands at every single street you walk on?

The wedding was beautiful. The garden and food was something i would hope to have in Msia - unfortunately, we would be all drenched in our clothes by the time the ceremony is over! :p
Congrats to my friends - the new Cooks! and Thank you for everything - this will be a trip I will always cherish!

Experimenting Pasta

Only had a couple of sausages and button mushrooms so i chucked those in.

Turned out pretty tasty!

Next on the list: Carbonara...yummy...

Car Invasion

So i was walking back to my car after work one day, and i saw something green sticking on the front passenger side of my car door.

Further inspection and i gasped!

It was wrigley's chewing gum stuck on the key-hole which was covering up a huge hole in my door!

Yup, someone took a whole lot of time to dig out the keyhole and ruin my car door!!

The funny thing was, nothing was taken from my car - there was nothing valuable in it in the first place. Well, its all fixed up now. Cost me 400 bucks to get all the locks changed and get some minor welding and painting done to the door.

2 days later, the power window gets stuck! This was just one of those things that are bound to get spoilt in your car's lifetime. What sucks is that it had to happen now! Another 130 bucks out of the wallet!!

Sigh...why would anyone want to steal my car?

On the way, we saw this humongous can of insecticide spray.

Now why would anyone want to put this up? I mean, i would go out of my way to buy this particular brand of spray just because they put up this giant can, right?

Anyways, Vas, since u always call me pest, this is specially dedicated to you.

Its been almost a month since i've written :D
Been busy and lazy at the same time.

Too much has happened over the month...a lot to do with food!
Babsi's birthday was celebrated at Unique seafood in PJ. Lots and lots of seafood!
Then it was our first visit to Euphoria. Smoke-free clubs rock!

We check out this one chinese place in brickfields! You read that right...chinese in brickfields. Its called WooLan. The review came out in the sunday star a week ago.
For a person who doesnt like eating fish head, i must say this one was good!
Not fish head curry but chinese style, steamed with ginger.

The highlight of my life at the mo', Euro 09' - thanks to Babsi & T getting hitched!
Yup, tickets have been paid in full. And now, full swing research on accommodation and places to see. I've pretty much confirmed my itinerary: KL-Vienna-Salzburg-Prague-Vienna-KL. Thats the most places i can go visit within budget. Now if only i win the lottery, then i will visit the entire Europe...twice!!! :D
July seems so far away!!!

V-day Dinner 09

My v-day is always celebrated after the actual day.
Actually its just an excuse to go eat at a nice fancy restaurant :D

This time, thanks to Jenny, we managed to snag a 50% discount at the mediterranean restaurant at Le Meridien.
I tried taking some pictures with my phone's camera again....so not very good ones turned out.

The ambience was nice, we sat by the window that looked out to the pool.
We were given a complimentary grapefruit & orange drink and pickled olives.
No picture of the drink coz i downed it before i remembered to take some pictures :D

We ordered a starter, some bread and 2 types of kebab - chicken & lamb which were their signature dishes.

The starter was some lamb sausages in a special tomato sauce which was my favourite dish of the day.

And then the bread which was kinda like naan, with cheese and parsley.

The mains weren't anything special. The chicken kebab tasted pretty bland to me, but the lamb was alright.

In the end, we still polished our plates :)

Dinner was over pretty quick so we headed down to George & The Dragon for an alco-fix.

Pretty good V-day for moi :)

Happy Plant

Every CNY, i pick up a new "Ong Tay" plant - the lucky bamboo plant.

Every year, it only lasts for a couple of months, then dies :(

So this year, i decided to try something different, the Happy Plant!

Been taking random pictures to monitor its progress, but the phones small little camera is quite blurry but the pictures are still visible :)

My Happy Plant is growing nicely! I must be really happy no? :D

As usual...im stuffed from all the eating during CNY!!

Pig's are gonna have some bad health this year...and ALL the horoscope readings told me im not suppose to change jobs this year. This stuff kinda makes sense sometimes huh...

So how many of u know the actual story of the 12 animals in the chinese zodiac?
Lots of different versions are told.
Mainly its made up of:
12 animals (in order) -> Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig
5 elements -> Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water

2 stories that i've heard of on the origins of the animals.
Story #1:
Before Buddha left earth, he called upon all the animals to kinda say bye!....and only these 12 showed up.

Story #2:
The Jade Emperor was having a party, and the rat was in charge of inviting all the other animals. The rat and the cat were good friends but for some reason the rat tricked the cat into believing the party was on another day. So the cat missed the party, didnt make it as one of the 12 animals in the zodiac sign and became a sworn enemy of the rat. Now you know why cats love to chase n eat rats :)

Story #3:
The Jade Emperor (again!) was having some sort of race. All the animals in the zodiac are named as they each reached the final stop.

Hello 2009....
This is late...i know :)

Christmas was a blast as always. I did manage 1 gift of my santa's list :)

Back to work and still not a fan of waking up in the mornings...eventhough i only wake up at 8:30!

New years was spent at home.

Yesterday, we had a family lunch at a chinese restaurant which had karaoke!!!
My my...the family is already loud WITHOUT a mic so can u imagine? :D
ABBA was a total hit and the boy even crooned "Wonderful Tonight"....awwwwwwww....
What a tiring thing this karoke..screaming on top of your lungs, without any care of how BAD it sounds and shaking booty on the floor. So if you don't wanna invest in a gym membership or any bulky gym equipment at home, get a karoke set man...its definitely a workout!

And the devils are finally back on top of the EPL table! Yaay! We own it la ok? :p

This week looks like an eventful one. Sunday started off with family lunch, tuesday is the looooooooong awaited buddies meetup, and wednesday is the Mogwai concert.
Who's Mogwai? No, its not the cutsie gremlin...its a scottish band called Mogwai. I'm totally digging these "alternative" bands lately. Favourite song of the mo': Tumble & Fall - Feeder. Go check em' out on youtube or something. Awesome song!!

I went for a haircut last night. Its 3 inches shorter now ;)
So here's the thing, one of the things i dont mind paying the extra (extra,extra,extra) ringgit for are my haircuts. So my usual hair stylist (che wahhh...i got my own stylist all ok!), wasnt around...crap! And knowing the norm, prices always get hiked right before CNY. But lucky me, this place just right outside of Isetan, The Gardens was having a good promo, so i decided to go check it out. I am a self-proclaimed hair salon critic!
Back to this place....Fuh! Excellent service man...super nice ppl working there. I came out of there feeling super duper good...and knowing that my hair is "so healthy" and has "very nice natural waves" muahahahahaha!

So anyway, the reason for today's post title is...i was sooooo damn hungry after the hair-cut but didnt know what! to eat at the gardens. So on the way home, i stopped by this burger man in Tmn Desa...and ordered a burger ayam special. Oooooooooo.....ramly burgers can never go wrong man. Which is why i want to say thank u mr.ramly :D

08 to 09

Today is officially the last working day of 08 for me, and the last blog post of 08.

Looking back at the year...seems like sooooo much has happened in what seemed to be such a short time!

Emotionally & mentally, i've learnt a LOT: dealing with work, the everyday stress of life, love, friendship. Physically, i grew 0.5 cm's taller and 0.5 kg's heavier :)

Big events of 08 (in no particular order):
> Kichi's & Momo's wedding...awesome!
> My birthday party...never again!
> Genting's with the IT fun gang...more trips in 09!

I'm pretty sure my name's on your list under the 'Nice' category...so this will make it easier for you and your elves, to decide on my gifts this christmas.

1. Mobile phone -> This is more of a necessity to me seeing that i LOST my old one :( Any Nokia model with color screen, mp3 compatible and a camera phone of >= 2.0 megapixels would make my day!

2. Eau de Parfum -> My bottle's running on empty right now. Yet another necessity to keep me feeling fresh all day long!

3. A little puppy friend for Pepper Anne to play with. The poor girl is so bored on her own but this has got to be a well-thought out plan. Maybe the puppy can magically appear at our front-gate? So it would seem like it was lost and hungry and needed shelter...something that Mom would not be able to say no to :)

You see im not asking for much....just the basic everyday things that i need to get through the day...

Of course i could go over the moon and wish for a place to call my own...maybe something shiny and sparkly too? But i wont :)

I'll have the milk and cookies ready, warm and crunchy just the way you like it!

I went to the specialist clinic to check out my stomach and i had to go through a scope.
There are 2 kinds of scopes, one that goes through your mouth, and another that goes up your @$$ :p
Mine was through the mouth...thank goodness!

So i didnt eat anything from 1opm the night before.
I lied on the examination table, and the nurse sprays this gross-tasting liquid down my throat...few seconds later, my whole throat goes numb. Funny feeling!

Then comes the scary part, the doc needs to put in an IV. He tells me, im every doctor's nightmare...small veins! He attempts to poke me, and i let out an couple of "ouch-es"...its hurts like mad!!!! He finally sticks the IV in im relieved. He injects some medication into the IV.

Doc: This is gonna make you feel sleepy...are you feeling sleepy?
Me: *blink blink*...nope!
Doc: Here's a bit more....are you feeling sleepy...
Me: ...........................................................................

Next thing i know, the nurse is waking me up...im getting transferred to another bed to sleep off the medication. Its a wonder drug. I love it! :D

Stomach is all fine....i even have a copy of the scan recorded on DVD! :)
I'm gonna stay away from needles for a while...

A recent chat with a friend brought back all my thoughts of being of mixed parentage.
Typical scenario: Guy meets girl, guy meets the parents, parents say "but he's not.....<insert race here>.

I think somewhere in my archive of older posts, i would've already written about this.
If i've said it, im saying it again.
If i havent already said it, here it is:

Screw all you ppl who think your race is far superior compared to other races.
Screw all you ppl who stop and stare at mixed families, like we're some sort of outcast.
Screw all you ppl who make mixed-race ppl feel like they need to belong to ONE race.
Screw friggin you!

I used to feel a little weird....trying to fit in to different groups of ppl. Language was always a barrier. I overcame it...i learnt to accept it.

All i know is, wayyyy back, i decided that i no more need to fit in to any ONE race.

3 things that i want to indulge in if i ever go to the land of A-ME-RI-CA (read ala west side story):

1. I want to eat hotdogs at any hot dog stands in the streets of NY

2. I want to eat yummy pepperoni pizza from an italian deli that is located in front of ANOTHER italian deli and they have ancient history of rivalry with each other

3. I want to eat at one of those diners that serve greasy and unhealthy fried bacon and scrambled eggs with black coffee for brekkie. I will go back in the evening to eat pie!

Monk-Like

I mean Monk as in the tv series.

Sometimes i cant help but being monk-like but not to the extreme of having everything on my tables aligned in exact milimeters apart :)

2 things i just cant stand:
Walking into the house, and having the feel of grainy sand on the floor.
Wet bathroom floors, only the shower area is meant to be wet!

On a different topic, don't you just love to walk around in the household area of shopping malls?
I think i inherited this from my mom. I love looking (and always buying at least 1) at rugs, towels, bedsheets etc. Every year i wait and wait for the ikea catalogue to come out. Takes me at least a month to digest all the different pictures in there.....maybe i should think of going into interior designing? nope..not enough of creative brain cells yet :)

Actually, it was the eve of my birthday...
Downed 1 mug of beer, 1 flaming lambo, 1 GRAVEYARD, and 1 tequilla shot
I was OUT!
Never in my life have i ever gotten drunk to the point of puking.
This time, i couldnt stop puking til the very next morning.
Man....it's the most horrible-est feeling in the entire world!
Not something i wanna go through again....and no one can make me!!!!!grrrrrrrrr

On the other hand, i got 2 cool gifts.
Have you seen those solar powered bobbing man-heads? Well...i've got a plant and a man-head now....very cute!

I was off for a week!
Nope..not for a holiday.
But to follow the sis around with the final preps for her wedding.

D-day came so soon!
It was just like yesterday that momo proposed!!!!

The wedding was awesome!!!!!
My whole plan of having the band play the beatles at the end of my speech didnt happen coz they werent a singing band. I dunno what came over me, but i sang out the 1st verse and the chorus. Thank God my uncles and aunts joined in. Must've croaked like a toad into the mike..muahahahahha....

Who knew the cinema in Cheras Selatan (read: ohmygodcheras!!!!) would be actually quite ok. The leg room space is much wider than midvalley's and its about the same distance.
Only slack part is....there is nothing much to eat there.

Firstly, a big CONGRATULATIONS and huggie for my kampung girl!!!

And meeting up with all my old school friends!
Man...i recognized each and everyone of you but everyone took a few sec's to recognize me!!!! Is it possible that i could've changed THAT much since high school?? Noooo way!!!

Secondly, i lost my handphone :(

Now i gotta get a new phone which is a double boo-hoo coz...

Everytime i score an interview, i fall sick.
Im so nervous, its been a while since i attended a "proper" interview ;)

Why am i attending interviews?
Across the board, there have been at least 20 colleagues that have left the department.
That aint a small number and HR's doing nothin about it!

I am too comfortable here. The only problem i have with this place is the moolah AND BB.
BB's been rumoured to leave soon. Can't wait for that to happen, so i decided i need a backup plan a.k.a another job in hand.

I've never seen so many letters flying around the dept before :)

Loudmouth: a person who doesnt care about his/her surroundings and consistently talks at the top of their lungs on the phone/to another person and chews loudly when seated in a small enclosed area

Ok, so my desk has now moved to a secluded room in this big building.
There's this girl sitting next to me.
She talks so loudly over the phone and doesnt care that i have to listen to her whiny voice.
I try drowning her out with my music but it doesnt work.
So you know how im playing pay-back?

She's on a diet....muahahahahahaha
She tries to skip meals...and drinks those weird colored shakes the whole day.
In comes phat-cat :p

Imagine these aromas i bring into the room everyday:
Morning: Lovely ham and cheese bun + hot cup of nescafe tarik
Lunch: no luck here...coz we always eat out...darn!
Tea: hahaha...here comes the fun part...teh tarik, currypuff, vaddai, goreng pisang, meehoon goreng...etc..

Lets see how long her diet lasts...

I feel totally crushed.
My boss just updated me on the status of my promotion.
Bigger boss (BB...can also stand for something meaner) apparently was agreeable to it but had just ONE problem with me....she finds me rude.

Flashback moment:

BB: "How come you've moved back to your desk...i thought you moved"
Me: "Huh? Moved where?"
BB: "There"
Me: "There where?"
BB: "To the other side"
Me: "Oh...no. Im back here waiting to check something on my desktop"

Now....do any of you think that "ME" sounds rude in this conversation?

Well...BB thinks im rude...
I would like to tell her to carry out a survey in the dept. and we'll see which one of us the rest find rude-er...

I can admit....i can be rude at times.
Cant blame me....work isnt easy and on top of that you get ppl like BB and the project managers and every other person coming into your space and demanding statuses like every freaking minute!
Ppl just snap you know.....and with MY history of anger management problems....

Anyways, from now on, its just gonna be Mute Me when it comes to dealing with BB and her stupid sidekick.

I am truly grateful however, that my boss is on my side.
She stood up for me.
One more pro of working here.
As for the whole BB finding me rude? 5 more con's....

another cuz's wedding dinner was on last night...which was a reunion with the chinese side of the family....
grandma's in hosp...poor thing...she's got an infection in her stomach...i hope she pulls through fine...

couple of weeks back...my poor baby car got hit by a motorcyclists....yea..my first ever "accident"...damn bugger...he was to "macha" looking for me to even ask him to pay for it...he just got up and drove his bike off..
he knocked into the side of my car and broke of my side mirror :(
total damage: 300 bucks...
i've spent a great big 600 bucks on my car last month....leaving me very very poor :((((

rumour has it that a new big boss is coming to town...im guessing a new org chart to replace the new org chart that isnt even out yet!!!!

I did go for piano lessons…torturous weekly classes….
Playing wasn’t the problem…I just hated the exams.

AWESOME....is the only way to describe Gwen's concert last night at Bkt Jalil.

The night started off pretty tensed, Vicky and I got locked in between the front door and grill. Yea..pretty "blonde" moment there...but thank god Momo was around to save us..

The smart move after that was parking outside and then taking a pretty long,slow walk towards the stadium. The concert only started at about 9pm...2 of the Harajuku Girls came sneaking out...followed by the "cops"...i knew it had to be "The Sweet Escape"!!!
Phwoarrrrrrrr!!! Gwen comes on stage and i just couldnt help screaming my lungs out!!!

She is damn gorgeous...she sang like u couldnt believe it was live...what with the dance moves and all...

The songs kept coming....and coming...right until the very end...

It was worth every sen. No boring opening acts...no wasting time...just Gwen rocking the stage the entire time.

I had loads of fun....couldnt care less about the rest who were just sitting down throughout the show...i was shaking my butt off...;)

I mean c'monnnnnn!!!! its a concert for crying out loud!!! u're suppose to be standing and waving ur hands in the air....scream everytime...anytime u want to!!

Next gempak concert....Beyonce...yea...bootylicious baby...:p

Best parts of the movie: when the autobots are trampling all over sam’s front yard, the action-packed highway/city streets scenes, bumble bee's auto-tuning radio....
I was soooo sad for that damned bumble bee ok….when he gets caught…and they start strapping him down…even when he loses his legs!!! Poor fella…
And the snapped Jazz in 2!!! Such a bad ending to a bee-u-ti-ful car :(

Thank you for Friday night. I admit..I, caragata, did get a bit high in the beginning. Just then, I took a wobbly trip to the ladies, and as I sat there, doing my business….i knocked myself on the head and said “YOU cannot get high…YOU don’t get high…WE are not gonna end up in a ditch somewhere….WE are not gonna spend the night in the lockup for DUI”…and then, I wasn’t high anymore :D

We’re planning a surprise birthday party for my mom. And I have nooooooooo idea HOW to get her out of the hse, for the tents to be put up, and the caterers and guests to arrive. Some ideas have surfaced, but they’re a bit too complicated, which will definitely result in me, having my name yelled by mom, and getting ‘the’ killer stare.

PLUS I have to go order the cake. AND I cant get overly dressed because mom knows I NEVER get dressed unless I really HAVE to. Its hard trying to keep secrets from ur mom. She just knows….

Hypocrites in short.
It really gets to me, that i've only just come to realize that the people around me and (some!) who are even friends, are in fact...100% hypocrites!
My initial judgement would then be completely WRONG!!!
No one likes to be wrong la kan?

So...what do we do about hypocrites? If they're just someone u work with...its easy..just ignore them.Its not like they have that much effect on you anyways.
But what happens when one of your friends, turns to this ugly side?
I've tried numerous times to even make it obvious enough with all sorts of "put-ur-shoes-in-the-others" hints...but to no avail.

Whatever it is, i've learnt to stop caring.

I'm guessing u've already read/heard by now, on the top-secret project that has been causing me late nights at work...heck i havent seen daylight for the past month..which also explains the lack of posts :) Stop complaining!!! I bet u're all hooked on to e! by now...

Despite the hectic work schedule (its not gonna end soon!), May was quite an eventful one...

Treasure Hunt was a blast. Got flagged off at 7 from the office, and we managed to get to Kijal at 3pm. My 1st time driving the east coast...lotsa first visits. To top it off, our team won 15th place! doesnt sound so great? we beat 43 other cars!! on our first ever hunt! yaay!!

Then comes my trip to Bangkok. I feel ill the week before..runny nose, fever, cough...the flu bug didnt spare me this time. I became better, but not 100% well. Skipping the trip was not an option, so loaded up on cough syrup and panadol, i made it to BK.

BK was extremely HOT!! the weather of course :p Nothing like Msia.The tom yam was excellent! and yea, u tend to overspend on shopping :) But then again, u easily get cheated if you dont really know how to bargain. Nothing much to sight-see except the Grand Palace & the buddha temples. Most travelling is done via their trains which is so me sort like our LRT's here. Our last night was spent chilling out at Hard Rock Bangkok...fantastic music and the band playing there was excellent!!!

For the millionth time, I have misplaced my locker key. With the amount of keys that I carry around, I don’t blame myself. There’s 2 sets of house keys, car keys, office keys..sigh..
I met up with dino few nights ago, havent seen her since….i cant remember when but it was sometime in oct/nov 2006…imagine getting my Christmas present in feb!! LOL
I’ve decided that the best way to meet up with the gang, is to meet them all individually, seeing that both rach & gracie are working on shifts, and deeds has a baby to go home to.

Its scary to think that we’re all turning 24 this year. I don’t feel aged…but the number certainly makes u sit and think…lordy…few more years down the road, most of us will be married, some with kids! So much money to spend! So much responsibility!!

It really sucks to be back at work after such a nice long weekend….now why didn’t I take the entire week off!!!
CNY was, like always, a food fest. This time, it was even more, since the cousin-twins celebrated their 18th birthday on Sunday.
However, which holiday is complete without some sort of drama, right?
Monday morning, I woke up, to help mom with some light house cleaning before the relatives arrived for their annual CNY visit. I see Pepper has learnt how to reach up to the sink/counter at the back of the house. I scream at her, and she leaves. Suddenly I catch her nibbling on a very familiar piece of chewed up box. One squint and I scream!!! It’s rat poison!!! She doesn’t know why I’m screaming and thinks I’m playing with her. I somehow manage to grab her and throw the box away. She doesn’t have any symptoms, although I’m not sure what exactly those symptoms are. Parents look very worried and we try calling the vet. Fortunately he answers. We had to give her 10 egg-whites, force it down if she doesn’t eat it. She eats anything, so that was pretty successful. Then she was rushed to the vet. She got 3 jabs, and medication that we’re suppose to give her everyday. If she poops blood, we’re doomed. Luckily, she is ok now. She doesn’t fuss to take her medication, although she hates drinking this purple-vitamin drink. It must taste yucky, can’t blame her.

I’m feeling quite good this morning, and I havent even finished my coffee yet.
You see, there are quite a number of families that live at the apartments. So every morning as I take my 5-minute walk to my car, I get to see parents/grandparents taking their kids to school, nurseries etc. I’ve even brought myself to put on a smiley face at some of the regulars that I bump into every single morning at almost the exact same time.

This morning, a black Toyota wish drives up by my side, and it’s a grandma, with her grandson sitting at the back, on their way to kindergarten. She stopped to ask if I needed a lift to the bus stop. Damn baik right?? So I told her its ok, my car is just down the road.

One thing that differs from the time we used to park outside cyberia, I don’t have to fret about getting parking tickets although I did loose a hub-cap :( I’m not sure if I fell off or got stolen. Poor thing is driven around looking quite ugly without her hub-cap. Should I get a new one, or I should steal mine back! Muahahahhahahaha!

While googling up something for Vas today, I stumbled upon something that brought me back to uni. Probability & Statistics. You know…all those formula’s for paired t-tests, reading the bell-shaped table, and the d-values and f-values, chi-square, binomial & ANOVA tests etc.
I remember taking this subject in alpha (pre-u) and having a wonderful lecturer which scored us all A’s for the subject (at least the girls did!)

Then, in cyber, we had to sit for another paper of probability & statistics..cant remember if it was in beta or gamma year, but I did pretty badly for the 4 credit hr subject. With full determination, me and rach re-took that paper in our final year. Mr.CWK thought we were the most brilliant students in the class, because we always had the answers to all the tutorial questions, and got to leave early every single class! :o)

But I really do have to thank him. The 2nd time around, studying the ever-confusing formula’s of probability was way easier. He put it in a very simple manner that both of us scored A’s!! kudos to u Mr.CWK! Although I will never EVER learn to like or pretend to even know anything close to networking!

Living in a box

I’m cursed when it comes to buying furniture. Well cupboards in particular.
It’s a long and frustrating story, that I just cannot even bring myself to type it out!
I’ve come to the conclusion that moving out actually seemed like a good idea at first, but in actual fact, its not so. I mean, of course all that freedom of living in cyber was fantastic, but then I’ve gotten so used to living at home again. Yes it’s far, and I have to spend so much on toll and petrol but its home u know. I have all my things there, family, my doggie, the comfy furniture…everything that I’ve grown attached to. And now I have all this new furniture which doesn’t seem to “fit” well with me. And there are still things to buy and to set up. Ah well, at least its close to work. Now that my holiday is coming up (read the next few paragraphs), I will just have to wait out the coming months before I actively start looking for a new job :D

Its quite an exciting week, I only have 4 days to work, and my cousins wedding awaits at the end of the week. My toes are gonna get their occasional pampering one of these days :)

Good news for May 2007. Will be going with Vas, Thama and Ida (which I have yet to meet) to Bangkok! Its gonna be fun…and this also means I have to start saving to shop! Not that I’m a shopaholic, but Ive been reading online that even non-shopaholics tend to spend over there!

Some random news I’ve read this morning:

Tea is beneficial only when drunk without adding milk.

I like tea, I like coffee, although I do know I’m suppose to cut down on caffeine to just 1 mug a day. I also know that I totally lack calcium which means I have to start drinking milk, which is gonna take a lotttt of discipline and willpower.

I’m back to the days of uni when everyday, the most dreaded question was “what’s for dinner?”….sigh….

For the first time today:
I was having lunch when suddenly this couple sitting in front of me (the lady), looked at me and started smiling like she’s known me for ages.
I just looked at her and thought: “oh man…do I know her…I cant seem to remember her”.
So I give the “erm..can I help you” look when she says “oh…we were just wondering if you’re malay”
*eyes become wider*
“err…nope. I’m not”.
That didn’t stop her, she kept looking at me, expecting further explanation and then she, slightly squinting like as if she can read my forehead and magically know, said “oh, so what are you?”
Slightly amused at her intense curiosity, I tell her.
“ohhhhhhhhh….ok” and goes back happily eating.
Usually I would’ve been bugged at ppl staring at me, but this lady and her hubby/bf/partner we’re quite pleasant looking and this is definitely the first time someone has actually dared to ask me instead of just staring annoyingly.
Also, she probably would’ve interrogated me more if I hadn’t answer

I am finally moving out from the great outdoors a.k.a. rawang
Wasn’t my intention…my sis needs a bodyguard….ok…ok…so my mom wouldn’t let her live out on her own…which is where I come in….
So I get to stay 20 mins from the workplace…and I don’t have to pay rent :DI am however providing the astro, bills, security and of course…food!
Yup…gonna get my apron on….and experiment with my cooking skills.
Watch this space for any mishaps i.e apt on fire, cut of fingers, massive food poisoning

Friday the 13th

and i didnt start it off well...
i've had a stiff neck since yesterday...god knows how i drove to work without turning to look at traffic and changing lanes...*sign of the cross*

I'm sitting in my car...rushing off to somewhere...
It's night and its really dark...
I shift the gear into reverse...
I'm trying to step on the brakes..but the car keeps rolling backwards..
I fall into a great big emptiness....and i crash to the ground...
The car has rolled and landed upside down...

and then...i wake up with a start...
it was a freaking nightmare...but it felt soooo real....

shiver....

Its my birthday!!!

Since the project has officially finished...and the vendors are paid...and we're all just sitting around waiting for the next project...we were all invited to a "closure" party at some Sunset Lookout Point on jln ampang-hulu langat...with the haze...all we got to see...was nothing!! Luckily the food was ok...and there was booze :D

It was the best time i've ever had clubbing...
You don't even have to know all the songs....bhangra just automatically seeps in and makes you dance..dance...dance..
I'm thinking...one night of bhangra = 3 times to the gym :D

Work’s been pretty slow…..and KD just left. He’ll be going back to India soon :(

He’s just the coolest guy I’ve met around here. The funny jokes…sometimes lame but his laugh is just soooooo contagious. The bowling…the pool games…sighhhh…its pretty boring here without him.Goodbye KD!!!

Team Building was fun! As the “registrar”, I managed to remember every single person’s name in our dept :D…and I even managed to find some cute guys that are from IT!
Its funny how my bosses all call me by my full name…and then the rest of my colleagues call me cath. It kinda sets the whole “boss not friend” borderline.

Out of all the cool stuff I shopped for the lucky draw…I got a stinky sleeping bag!!!
The events were cool...we had a Samurai thingy, a buy-sell stocks thingy and an explorace which ended with a big YUCK. we had to break open and eat up 2 huge papaya's with our bare hands...i HATE papaya!!!
